The Road Commissioner oversees the maintenance of Town roads -- those that are neither private nor are the responsibility of the Maine Department of Transportation.
Duties include:

Manages road repair and maintenance within the municipality;

Maintains an ongoing maintenance log;

Responds to residents concerns for road safety and repair
***THE BENTON END OF THE BOG ROAD WILL BE CLOSED AND NOT MAINTAINED BY THE TOWN OF BENTON FOR THE 2023-2024 WINTER SEASON. ALBION WILL CONTINUE TO PLOW AND MAINTAIN THE TOWN OF ALBION PORTION ONLY TO THE BENTON TOWN LINE.
***DETOUR*** The Puddledock bridge on the South Freedom Road is CLOSED down until further notice it is not passable. The Maine DOT has set up a detour.
